Slight return
I want a blog.
Hurrah! It turns out I've already got one. It's dusty and dormant, and several ice-ages have come and gone since it last enjoyed any attention, but it's here and it's mine. Also, it's the second and third highest-rated Google result if you should ever search for 'Vanishing Hamster', which I wonder why you would, unless you were a particulary poor private detective specialising in rodent kidnapping.
Two highly influential men are to blame for this desire to write. One is Dibbie who is resonsible for http://dibbiedibbie.wordpress.com/ and http://taumuele.wordpress.com/ among other internet-word-prowidings. He is funny, witty and very readable, when he can be bothered to blog. He's interested and interesting; an enquiring mind. Which is exactly what I like to think I am, but I think I need to step up and prove it.
The other man is the omnipresent Stephen Fry. By rights, he ought to be extremely irritating - he was on four tv shows last week, and that was discounting repeats on Dave. But somehow he gets away with it with astonishing ease and admirable style. He was fabulous on Planet Word http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b015h1xb and made me remember how much I used to love writing. Admitedly I think I peaked about 18 years ago (and I'mm only 29 now) but I enjoyed being creative and making people laugh. Again, I think I can still do this, but I need to be able to prove it to myself, and to any readers willing to bear with me while I work this all out.
